This morning I finished season one of UNITED STATES OF TARA. During the school year, I never have time to watch telly, but JRS recently invested in Netflix, so now I feel like I need to take full advantage of it. With a recommendation from his sister, we started the series just a few days ago and I haven’t been able to resist finishing it.

United States of Tara is a series that premiered on Showtime in 2009. The series follows a mother who suffers from extreme dissociative identity disorder (DID).

When I first started the series I wondered how you could spin an entire series, but it’s pretty interesting. I’ve really taken to each of the characters — the gay, nerdy son, the supportive husband, the rebel daughter and Tara’s crazy neurotic sister.

Have you seen United States of Tara?
