Just as I arrived home from New York, late last week, I received an email asking me to come in for an interview at Inside Columbia magazine. I got ready and headed out to interview with Director of Marketing Bill Bales. During the interview Bill and Publisher Fred Perry, talked to me about what is expected during my employment. At the conclusion of the interview, I was offered the position.
It was then time to leave my life working in the hospitality industry behind and risk it all for a new career opportunity working in sales and marketing.
On the first day, Monday, the morning consisted of back-to-back meetings: staff meeting, sales and marketing meeting, marketing representative meeting and then it was lunchtime. Where did the time go? The morning seemed nonstop, but that was nothing in comparison to my afternoon. After enjoying lunch with JRS and his sister JLS, my afternoon seemed like a whirlwind: cold calls… dun dun dun! With a list of ten businesses, which targeted a demographic of 50-years-old and up, I drove around the city meeting with pet salons, hair salons, and nursing homes, to name a few, hoping to inform them of the opportunity to advertise with Inside Columbia magazine’s newest publication,Senior Guide 2012, a guide for seniors and retirees.
Well, here goes nothing…
